The 2010 Nordschleife Masters was a special endurance round comprising of a single double length race. It represented Round 7 of the 2010 Masters Series season and was held on December 2nd 2010.

Report

As the series approached its halfway point, the drivers relished a chance to enjoy a special extended race at the historic Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. Nicknamed the 'Green Hell', the 22.8km track saw the drivers face a vast array of corners, every one of which is capable of causing costly damage if you get it wrong. The length of the lap also proved a challenge in qualifying as only 11 or the 16 drivers recorded a time and saw the best and worst being separated by over 2 minutes. However, the front row of the grid was an all Maltese affair, with Joe Consiglio beating Nordsjoen teammate Jason Muscat by six seconds.

At the start championship leader Consiglio lost ground and was passed first by Muscat and then by Sam Millar. There were chaotic scenes behind as Nikos Evangelidakis and Gavin Thomas suffered separate spins that tangled up several other drivers. Muscat resisted early pressure from Millar and held onto his lead at the end of Lap 1, as Consiglio managed to blast past Millar on the long back straight for 2nd. On Lap 2 Consiglio completed his recovery by getting a better run out of Ex Mühle and so taking the lead from Muscat. Further back many exciting battles formed and several drivers suffered at the hands of the unforgiving track - including Mark Stanton who mistakenly took a flying leap out of the track at the final chicane.

As the race progressed, Joe Consiglio managed to pull out a commanding lead and so the focus shifted to the battle for 2nd. Millar emerged from the pits right in front of Muscat and the pair had an intense lap long battle which saw them make contact several times and this allowed David Jundt to catch up to them. Going into the final lap, Millar was once more on the tail of Muscat, but an unfortunate tap after Flugplatz saw Muscat hurtle into the scenery and led to him limping home in 4th. Millar claimed 2nd place ahead of Jundt, but the day belonged to Consiglio who won by 31s and further extended his lead in the standings.
