Epic Racing is an International GPVWC constructor based in Banbury, England who are competing in the 2023 Superleague Series. They returned to GPVWC in 2015, taking part in the Formula Challenge, World Sport and International Touring Cup series.

Epic Racing was first created in 2009 on the racing simulator Live for Speed with core members featuring Lee Davidson, Matt Webb, Scotty Moore, James Charman and Jack Mace. Competing mainly in open wheel series including the Sonicrealms FOX Racing Series, the team would never find an acceptable level of success, despite attracting notable drivers such as David Jundt and Tom Parker. For 2010, the team focused more on the touring car scene, with a number of entries in the iTCC with both Jundt and Moore frequently competing in the main rounds, there was also entries in the Kyoto 500 for Moore and Steven Martin.

The team first entered GPVWC Competition in the 2013 Formula Challenge Season and ran for a single season before returning between 2015 and 2019, moving up the ranks through Formula Challenge (Now FS2) and Supercup (Now FS1) before making their Superleague debut in 2018. Epic have the notable achievement of winning on their Superleague debut, with Geoffrey Fournier winning the 2018 Austrialian Grand Prix, in what is one of the more famous GPVWC-Sanctioned events. The team went onto a sabbatical at the end of the 2019 Superleague season before returning to full time Superleague competition in 2021, where they have competed since.

Davidson submitted the team's entry for the 2013 Formula Challenge season in December 2012, promising to revolutionise the Sim Racing Team into a public-friendly and interactive squad. The application was successful and Epic Racing was granted a slot on the grid that included another 18 teams. With the new rules and regulations coming into play, including a brand new mod, Davidson would look to the safe hands of Matt Webb to steer the team's attack. Davidson also hired rookie newcomer Andy Smith in an effort to bring in fresh blood to the GPVWC fold. Testing started off positively and with the addition of the experienced Louis Wedekind joining on testing duties, confidence within the team was at an all time high.

This culminated in a eye-opening performance in the pre-season test at Jerez where Wedekind and Webb finished 3rd and 4th respectively. However unfortunately the team could not replicate this form in the opening round held at Albert Park, Melbourne. Under unique server conditions (40+ connections), both Matt and Andy would suffer various connection issues during the event, with Smith losing connection during qualifying, only getting back in time to do his out lap and Webb losing connection during the formation lap of the first race after qualifying just outside the Top Ten. Andy would not see the chequered flag in race one, making it a debut race to forget for the squad, however things would take a more positive turn in race 2. With both cars starting near the rear of the field, a first lap pile up would allow both drivers the opportunity at points finishes, with Matt fulfilling his race pace potential and taking home 13th from his 37th place grid position. Andy would also register his first finish of the season, battling valiantly and gathering all-important experience en-route to 22nd.

The next race took place at a sodden Sepang Circuit for the Malaysian round of the series with Andy Smith taking a step back to the reserve role with Wedekind due to step in. However issues with his computer meant he was unavailable and so at the 11th hour team owner Lee Davidson stepped in to make his racing return, his first since the World GT race at Fuji last year. Challenging conditions meant every driver had to be on their toes and sensing an opportunity for a good result, Webb fancied hsi chances. However he would only be able to have one clean lap en route to 22nd on the grid. Davidson was purely happy to be able to start at the rear of the grid after his connection dropped out. Both races saw dramatic pile ups off the start line with both drivers getting involved in the melee, this meant Webb could not replicate his points finish from Melbourne whilst Davidson merely made up the numbers before connection issues ended his second race prematurely.

Round 3 took place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria with the team this time fielding Webb and Wedekind as was due to happen the previous round. The very cold conditions meant neither driver could get a full handle on their cars and qualifying became a farce as the grid of nearly 50 cars tried to fit into the small lap of the circuit. Clean laps were rare meaning neither driver could get into the top 20. The now expected start line pile up once again took place at the start of both race causing damage to both Webb and Wedekind meaning their race weekends were mainly pointless.

Epic Racing's 2013 World GT Machine
Following on from the successful 2012 Winter GT Series, series admins announced a full scale championship using GT3 machinery for 2013, confirmed as the World GT Series. Once again Davidson submitted an entry for Epic which was successful. It's been confirmed that the team will race in a pair of Ferrari 458s with Louis Wedekind and Ed Williams filling the seats.

The first round of the season took place at Monza where Wedekind drove a superb race after a mistake at qualifying meant he had to begin from the final grid slot. Driving a mature and calm race, he managed to bring the Ferrari home in tenth place, scoring himself and the team six points. It was to be a meet for Williams to forget however as connection issues plagued his meet causing him to not start. He did show pace similar to Louis and so remains optimistic for the rest of the series.

Epic Racing secured an entry into the Porsche-based World Sport Series for the second year in succession following on from 2012's part schedule. With it's easier approach and less emphasis on set up, Lee Davidson has taken the opportunity to take FC Reserve Driver Andy Smith under his wing and run alongside him for the entire season, hoping to be able to bring the newcomer up to speed enough for a return to racing duties in the single seaters.

Formula Challenge

Epic Racing was confirmed a slot on the 2015 Formula Challenge grid in November 2014, which will be their first full-time competition since 2013. On 10th of December 2014, the team confirmed Mike Schroten and Wopke Hoekstra will be their race drivers, driving the number 38 and 49 entries. On the 16th of January, Rob Mason was announced as a reserve driver for the team. The opening race of the season took place at Melbourne, Wopke Hoesktra made it a return for Epic to remember with two points finishes and pace good enough for a potential podium in the reverse grid race until an uncharacteristic mistake dropped him from fourth to eighth. Mike suffered a poor qualifying which made his race meet a challenging one, a highlight was his fight through the field to finish just short of the points in the second race. The second round in Bahrain saw Wopke repeat his results from Melbourne but in reverse order, finishing eighth and then fifth, including a stint leading the second race which was a first for Epic Racing in GPVWC. Mike continued his struggles, off the pace and not managing to break into the top 20 in either race. Spain saw Schroten make a stark improvement from his struggles previous but it still wasn't quite enough to get the points he craves, Hoesktra however maintained his top-10 finishes in every race with a seventh and eighth place finishes, leaving him sixth in the standings.

The next round at Portugal saw a breakthrough for Mike as he registered his first points of the season, finishing twelfth and thirteenth in the two races. Wopke joined him in the points once more but couldn't match his top ten results from the previous rounds, taking home a pair of eleventh place finishes. Round five at Turkey provided the team with it's strongest outing of the season so far with both drivers having pace good enough for top ten finishes, both duly delivered in race one, with Wopke in the fight for the race win down to the very last corner, he would eventually finish second, two tenths behind the winner, Mike would finish tenth, his best finish of the year to this point. Race two saw an extremely messy first lap claim Mike and cause him his first DNF of the season, whilst Wopke recovered from a jump start penalty to take home sixth, signing off the event with fastest lap, the first of the season. The sixth round of the season took place at Monaco which saw Rob Mason make his racing début for the team in FC, with Mike being unavailable for the race meet. The first race saw Woke maintain his points scoring record, all be it in a slightly disappointing thirteenth following a pit stop for a new front wing, Rob brought the car home just outside the points in sixteenth, however the result saw him start second for the second race following the random reverse grid draw. Wopke's point scoring streak came to a sudden end when he was unable to start race two from his grid slot of sixth due to a disconnection at the start of the grid formation, however Rob managed to maintain the team's record of scoring points in every race with a solid 14th place finish.

The next round in Canada saw Epic maintain the line up of Hoekstra and Mason whilst Mike Schroten was unavailable. Race 1 saw a titanic battle for the win between the top four, of which Hoekstra was once again involved in. With an incredible 0.131 covering the group at the flag, Wopke took home fourth. Rob managed a superb race of his own to take eleventh place and more valuable points. Race two saw another double points finish, with Hoekstra in tenth and Mason in thirteenth. The team's home GP at Silverstone was next, once again with Hoekstra and Mason on driving duties. Hoekstra completed a superb qualifying lap to take fourth on the grid, however a poor start meant he could only recover to sixth, whilst Rob climbed up from a low grid position to take home seventeenth, which meant he would start third for race two with the reverse grid draw. Race two saw a big accident in the opening half of the first lap, in which Wopke was caught. The Dutchman managed to make the chequered flag but only in twenty fifth, his first non-points finish of the season. Rob made the most of his third place on the grid to take home his first top ten finish of the year, in eighth. The mid-season round took place in Austria and was to be Hoekstra's final outing for the team before taking a racing seat at Measuric Racing where he was previously their reserve. He was partnered by Schroten once again and registered a double points finish, meaning he finished 16 out of 18 races in the points. Mike managed a points finish in the first race to produce a welcome return to active driving.

Mason took Hoekstra's place meaning the reserve role became available. Jack Mayor was signed to the role after a string of appearances in the Open Series throughout the year. However he would make his début for the team at the very next round in Hungary, partnering Mason whilst Schroten was unavailable. Unfortunately the team suffered their first pointless meet of the season however there were some positives to gleam from the meet, including Mayor registering a finish in both races. Mike made a big return at Spa Francachomps for the Belgian round, producing the best performance of his season with a fifth place followed by a seventh, however that only told half the story as he was involved in dramatic multi-car fights for the win in both races, he was commended by the community for the fights that remained clean and exciting throughout. He was partnered by Mayor who managed his first Top-20 result in Formula Challenge in the second race with 18th. Mike couldn't repeat his heroics at the Italian round held at the historic Monza circuit, retiring in both races through incidents for which he was not at fault, thankfully Rob saved the weekend with a points finish in race 2 with a fine eleventh place. Singapore saw a return of the Mason/Mayor line up with Mason again being the lead driver in terms of results, scoring another eleventh in race 2, Jack's inexperience showed on the tough Marina Bay circuit, only mustering thirty second in race one before retiring in race two.

Round 14 took place in Japan and saw Mike return to the grid with Rob, he also returned to the points in race two with a fourteenth place finish, complimenting Rob's pair of fifteenth places, taking his points scoring streak to three races. However that streak came to an abrupt end in the very next round in Abu Dhabi where he competed as a solo-entry for the team whilst both Mike and Jack were unavailable (the only time in the season Epic fell to one car for a round). Rob fell out of the points in both races in a tough meet, registering Epic's second pointless weekend. The penultimate round of the season took place in the United States of America with Mike and Rob once again in the seats, this time putting in a much more competitive performance, Mike registering a twelfth place finish, his best since Belgium. The season finale was at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil and Epic signed off in style with a double points finish for both Mike and Rob, resulting in the pair tying on forty two points after competing in the same amount of races. Jack Mayor finished the year without any points but could hold his head high having to make his début in what proved to be an extremely competitive year for Formula Challenge.

The team completed their season objective of a top ten position with 218 points, leaving them in ninth place in the standings.

World Sport Series

Epic Racing's 2015 World Sports Series Machine
Epic Racing was awarded a slot on the 2015 World Sport Series grid in March 2015. It will be the third time the team has competed in the series. The team managed a major coup with the signing of experienced sim-racer Tom Parker for the entire WSS Season, he will be partnered by Epic's Formula Challenge reserve driver, Rob Mason. After a tough opening round in Spain, which saw a number of incidents and suspect driving, the team came away with a single points finish from Parker in race two, Round Two in Portugal saw a noted improvement with Parker managing to complete an extremely competitive race meet qualifying fourth and finishing third and ninth in the two races, his third place was Epic Racing's first ever GPVWC podium finish, Mason meanwhile showed improvement but has still yet to get off the mark. Round three saw Parker return to the podium in race two, taking home a superb second place whilst driving with an illness, Rob managed his best finish so far in race one but was still unable to score points.

Reserve driver Geoffrey Fournier made his first start for Epic in the series in the next round at Monaco, replacing Mason who was unavailable for the event. The first race on the famous street circuit saw Tom's point scoring streak come to a halt after a bruising race left him in twentieth place, with Fournier a couple of positions ahead in eighteenth. However race two saw another superb drive from Parker, coming through the field to finish just outside the podium in fourth whilst Fournier was running as high as sixth before issues with his PC caused him to fall to thirteenth, none the less he scored his first points of the year in what was ultimately a competitive outing. The next round in Canada saw Tom Parker's best chance of a race win yet with a fierce five way fight going right to the final turn of the final lap, sadly he would end up off the podium in fifth but was glad to be part of what was widely received as a fight of the season, he complimented the result with further points in race two, finishing seventh. Meanwhile, Rob Mason returned after missing the previous round to score points in race two with a season's best ninth.

The second half to the season started with the British round held at Silverstone, hopes were high for Epic's home race however reserve driver Forunier was again called upon whilst Parker was unavailable. None the less, the Frenchman drove beyond his squad status, taking home two top ten results to maintain the team's fine points scoring form. Rob didnt fare quite so well, registering two Top 20 finishes but both outside the points in a disappointing showing at his home race. Shortly after the round it was decided that the Austrian round would be Rob's last as a primary driver, allowing him to concentrate on his new status within the Formula Challenge squad as he replaced Wopke Hoekstra. The team decided to promote Fournier from his reserve duties. In Rob's final outing for the WSS squad he signed off in style, scoring points in both races and comprehensively outperforming Tom Parker, who had a meet to forget with an eighteenth in race two coming after a DNF in the first race. The next round in Hungary saw another new face join Epic, all be it for a single round as Quintin Plane took over from Tom Parker as an emergency driver. Plane was unable to match Fournier's pace an his rustiness showed, not finishing either race. Fournier managed to score points in the second race with eighth but no points in race one meant the meet was tied for the season's worst along with the first round at Spain.

Tom Parker returned for the penultimate round held in Belgium and once again he had a new team mate in James Ross, the team's newly signed reserve driver. Parker returned to his first half form with two points finishes, taking ninth and then fifth. Ross meanwhile had a series début to forget with two DNFs. The season finale gave Epic one last chance to go for a top six result in the team's standings whilst Parker still had half a chance at sixth in the drivers. Once again Tom was the team leader, posting the second fastest tie in qualifying, however a five place grid penalty from the previous round meant he would start seventh. Looking to capitalise on his decent starting position, Tom ran as high as fifth before the final lap as part of the lead train of cars, however a spin from a frontrunner would catch him out on the final turn causing him to drop to eleventh at the finish line. Never the less, the result meant he was guaranteed a good grid position for race two however a collision at the first turn put pay to any chance of a final race victory. He managed a strong comeback to finish eighth but unfortunately wasn't to enough to capture sixth and would eventually finish eighth in the standings on 121 points, his best finish being the second place finish in the second race of the Turkish round. Ross managed to finish race two after another DNF but was unable to score points in what was ultimately a super-competitive field.

The team would eventually finish eighth in the standings on 162 points, fulfilling their objective of the Top Ten for the year.

International Touring Cup

Epic Racing was confirmed an entry to the 2015 International Touring Cup in April 2015, being given race numbers 32 and 33. It is Epic's first entry into the series where Geoffrey Fournier and Chris Shepherd will drive a pair of Chevrolet Cruzes. In an interesting development, Christian Zorner will also be co-managing the squad alongside Lee Davidson, gathering experience of managing a sim-racing team in the process.

Round 1 took place in Portugal and was Chris Shepherd's GPVWC race début, however it was unfortunately one to forget as he was unable to break into the points scoring positions. Geoffrey Fournier fared even worse and a disconnection before the third race confirmed the season opener to be a long forgotten affair! Round 2 saw a vast improvement with Fournier taking home three valuable points finishes after a competitive showing, Shepherd showed fantastic pace during the entire meet, qualifying seventh. However the Englishman couldn't quite recover from the grid penalties he was given after Round 1, finishing just outside the points in races 1 and 3 whilst an incident in race 2 put him out of the race on lap four.

Formula Challenge

Epic Racing's 2016 Formula Challenge Machine
The team was confirmed to remain in the Formula Challenge series on the 5th of December 2015 at GPVWC day, it'll be their third season (second consecutive) in the series and will retain their numbers from the 2015 season, 38 and 49. On the 12th of December 2015, it was confirmed that Rob Mason would continue with the team after stepping in mid-season the previous year and that he would be partnered by Frenchman Geoffrey Fournier, who raced for Racing Team Schroten in FC last year. Mike Schroten was lined up to take on reserve driver duties, however he had to pull out due to issues with the rFactor 2 game limiting his ability to race online. The team revealed a striking livery in February with a partnership with children's charity War Child taking priority on a largely white design with Epic's traditional red and black features.

The season started with a bang for Epic and Fournier at the opening round of the season at Melbourne, securing his first ever career ladder pole position in his team debut, however it was to get even better for the Frenchman as he secured his and the team's first ever victory in Formula Challenge with a fantastic drive, holding off two title favourites on his way to the chequered flag. Mason scored his first points of the season in the second round at Bahrain, taking home 14th and 9th in the two races, however it was Fournier who again led the charge for the team with 11th in the first race before making the most of his reverse grid pole to take home an unexpected second place, his second podium finish of the year. Following the round, the team announced Scottish racer Paul Joseph as the team's reserve driver in Schroten's absence.

Russia hosted the third round of the season at the Autodrom Sochi and saw Fournier stretch his points finish run to four races with a fantastic fourth and sixth place finishes, consolidating his second place in the driver standings. Unfortunately Mason suffered a meet to forget, unable to avoid accidents in both races meaning he registered zero points from the meet.

Masters Series

Epic Racing's 2016 Masters Machine
December 22nd 2015 saw Epic received confirmation of it's participation in the returning Masters Series, where it'll make it's début in the series. On December 31st 2015, the team confirmed their driver line up to be Geoffrey Fournier (#5) and James Ross (#4). The first round of the season took place on 3rd January 2016 at the team's home track of Silverstone, Great Britain. Unfortunately, the season opener couldn't have gone much worse for the team with Ross suffering two engine blow ups, meanwhile Fournier missed both the qualifying session and the first race due to an issue with his computer. This meant he had to start from the pit lane for race 2,where he unfortunately exited on a red light giving himself a drive-through penalty, he would recover to 20th but outside the points, meaning the team left the opening round last in the standings, the only team to not score any points.

The season started to improve from round 2 onwards, with Fournier taking his first points of the year in the sprint race of the Dutch round, finishing a credible 12th after a retirement in the feature race. Ross managed to register his first two race finishes, finishing just outside the points in 20th and 16th places. Round 3 at Laguna Seca saw Ross become unavailable to drive, so Tyrone Frith was brought in on an emergency contract to make his debut with Epic Racing. However it would be one to forget for the Englishman as connection issues sabotaged any chance of running, meaning Fournier was left as a sole entrant for the team, starting well with a 13th place finish in the feature. Sadly that was the only points the Frenchman would score after another retirement in the sprint race cast a shadow over what could've been a fantastic meet.

Epic enjoyed their best round of the season in Australia. Fournier was rejoined by Ross and both drivers managed to score points, with Fournier registering his first ever Masters top ten finish, 8th, in the sprint race after finishing the feature in 11th. Ross scored his first points with a fine drive in the sprint, taking home 14th place after retiring in the feature. The final round at Brno, Czech Republic saw both drivers complete both races for the only time of the mini-series, although it was only Fournier who managed to take any points away from the meet, finishing 12th in the feature. The final standings saw Fournier finish in 18th place with 24 points whilst Ross placed 39th on 2 points, meaning the team could only manage 12th overall, a disappointment in everyone's eyes.

Epic Racing submitted an application for the 2016 World Sports Series. On the 26th of February 2016, the team were confirmed of their participation in the series. Upon receiving the confirmation, the team announced Tom Parker and Cameron Brewster to be their driver line up for the season, experienced driver Wopke Hoesktra will also make a return to the team in a reserve capacity.

The first round of the season took place at Sochi Autodrome, Russia and once again Epic suffered a slow start to a series with both drivers failing to score points in the first race. However, in the second race, both Brewster and Parker were able to recover to score some points, finishing 12th and 13th respectively. The second round took place in Spain and saw both drivers continue their points scoring run, Brewster registering the best result for the team up to that point with a superb fifth in race one.

Epic Racing submitted an application for the 2016 World GT Series. In their application, they applied for a slot using the Corvette C7R. Unfortunately, it was revealed on the 26th of February 2016 that Epic was unsuccessful in it's application. On the 25th of March, the team received confirmation of it's admittance into the World GT paddock as a mid-season replacement. Although originally applying for the use of the Corvette C7R, Lee Davidson romanticised the idea of using his childhood favourite machine, the Dodge Viper. The team confirmed the used of the Viper as soon as the mid-season agreement was made. On the 28th of March, the team confirmed German racer Florian Engel as their lead driver for the remainder of the WGT season.

Supercup

At the 2016 GPVWC day it was reveiled that Epic Racing was promoted to the 2017 Supercup season. The team later announced that they would go into the season with their 2016 Formula Challenge driver lineup consisting of Geoffrey Fournier and Rob Mason.

World GT

Epic Racing took part in the 2017 World GT series. Originally, they planned to start in a Mercedes AMG GT3, but switched to a Bentley Continental GT3 before the first race. The drivers were Chris Shepherd and Christoph Lichtenstein.
