Evolution Motorsports is an successful German sim-racing team founded by Marcel Rautter in early 2011. The Team entered GPVWC to give their drivers Marcel Rautter and Dennis Jordan a seat for the 2016 Supercup season.

History

Founded in early 2011, Evolution took part in the Formula Virtual Pro Series with Marcel Rautter and Markus Kleim as their drivers. After two successful seasons with one constructeurs championship on their hand as well as two 2nd places in the drivers championship, Kleim was replaced by Tobi Kleinadel. With this lineup the team completed the following two seasons, but was not able to beat earlier success. The team also started in the eGP-Meisterschaft organized by Motorsport-Portal. This time Rautter was set next to Philipp Puschke, a young talent who dominated the Formula Virtual Pro seasons. In their only season in the league Puschke was able to secure the drivers titel.
Under the name of "Revolution Motorsport" the team entered the Formula Simracing World Trophy in 2011 giving Puschke the possibility to perfom at the top level. Just after half a season Puschkes was signed by top tier team Ghostspeed Racing. The loss of their only driver saw Evolution withdraw from the championship.
Following a 3-year long break the team started in the Formula German Racers series with owner Rautter and Dennis Jordan as their drivers. They barely lost the constructeurs championship while coming second and third in the drivers ranking.
The team still competes in leagues of the German Racers community, however Rautter and Jordan also started racing in GPVWC in 2015, but lost their team Smile Power Racing for the 2016 season. Evolution took over Smile's Supercup licence and is going to compete in the league from 2016 onwards.

2016

Supercup

In December 2015 Evolution was confirmed as one of the 14 2016 Supercup teams.

Evolution struggled heavily during Pre-Season testing, lacking both pace and consistency. Things did not change for the opening round in Australia, however benefiting from start crashes in both races team team scored 11 points as well as a Top 10 result by Marcel Rautter in race 2. The following race in Bahrein saw Evolution finally up to pace. Starting from the back of the grid, Dennis Jordan finishing two strong races in posiitons 11 and 9. While Jordan was able to get another 9th place in Sochi, the next races saw them struggle more again. After the Spanish Grand Prix Marcel Rautter decided to step down from his primary race role due to missing results as well as problems with the car. Tobias Polotzek was elected as replacement for the reminder of the season. After a rather bad event at Istanbul Park the team scored its first podium in Monaco with P2 in race 2. Follwing a few more solid results the team was looking for a really good race at home, at the Hockenheimring. However effected from penaltys as well as collisons, the teams only managed to score one point during the event. After the summer break the team found themselves in a way better position than before. Jordan scored two Top 10 results in the Belgium Grand Prix and posiitons 4 from Jordan and 10 from Polotzek made the Italien Grand Prix the first race since Melbourne with two Evolution cars in the points. Showing rising form, Polotzek surprised with Posiiton 6 in the Suzuka qualification. The team however struggled to transfer its pace into a lot of points once again, only finishing in 8th and 10th (Jordan) as well as 11th and 14th (Polotzek). At the following race in AbuDhabi it was once again Tobias Polotzek surprising with strong pace. Starting from last position he quickly made up positions to even fight for the podium at the end of the race. A strong 5th place in race 1 was followed by another solid 8th in the second race. Jordans 6th and 4th places made it the best race for Evolution in terms of points of the season. Jordan earned another 4th and 6th at the Austin Grand Prix while Polotzek added a few more points with P12 to the team account. Polotzek fought back to another impressive result in Mexico, scoreing Positions 5 and 6 and once again fighting for the podium places. A difficult last race under heavy rain conditions at Interlagos saw Polotzek not finishing the race, teammate Jordan however was able to score the teams second podium after the disqualification of Argenis Riera after the race.

Evolution Motorsports finished the season in 7th position overall with 282 scored points.

Atlantic Series

Next to their Supercup campaign Evolution Motorsports also took part in the 2016 Atlantic Series, using rfactor 2's DW-12 Indycar.

The team confirmed Dennis Jordan and Lazaros Filippakos as their drivers. Filippakos started the season with a solid 11th position at the season-opener in Sebring. The next round at the Indianapolis Road Course saw both Evolution getting into the points with Jordan finishing in 6th position after trying to stay out on dry tyres on a wetter getting track going all in for the victory. Filippakos added more solid points with P13 wo the teams account. The team struggled at the following Oval-Race. While Filippakos did not see the checkered flag, Jordan only to finished in 13th position. The race in Mosport saw both Evolution getting into the Top 10, Jordan finishing a strong fifth, while Filippakos mananged to get posiiton nine. Being the sole Evolution car at the Road America event, Filippakos scored his best season result with an impressive 7th position. It was Jordan who got another fith position at the season final in Austin after passing Dino Paolini in the last corner of the last lap. His teammate Filippakos finished a difficult race in 15th positon, however giving the needed points to pass Cosmo Autosport in the team championship.

Evolution finished the season in 4th position overall with 204 scored points.
