The San Marino GT Cup is an event held at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola. The event debuted during the 2013 World GT Series season where it became the first race since the 2012 American GT Cup not be officially broadcast. Technical issues were blamed as the primary culprit. The 2013 race was initially won by the Drivers' champion, Alex Cooper, however following investigations into Cooper's race, the Englishman was deemed to have breached track limits too many times and was given an appropriate time penalty which gifted the win to debut TWR driver, Jason Muscat.
