Possible errors in our recorded data

Vitaliy Kambarov's fastest lap in the Brazilian GP is recorded as being 1:30.999. I think it would be highly unlikely that he finished third with such a slow comparative fastest lap time considering the driver who finished behind him in 4th, Jens Kampe, set a fastest lap time of 1:14.250. Also I find it odd that in one of the races, several drivers finished with a 1:xx.000 fastest lap time in one of the races towards the end of the season. --Mal McKee 01:22, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Do Not Starts

Mal - a thought as I look at the driver standards. The amount of 'DNS' bits. It looks a bit untidy. If a driver didn't partcipate at all in quali - shouldnt they go with the "Did not participate (-)" marking on it? Be different now if the driver did indeed quali, but didn't do the race. - Philip Cullen

Agree with Phil - and it's also something that affects some of the 2011 standings. Some drivers are marked as DNS even though they were simply not meant to participate - if a driver is not the allocated one to take part, or if he pulled out of the league, he should be marked "-". - William Ponissi
I agree with you both - a Did Not Start should only be for drivers who were meant to participate in the race. Unfortunately, there weren't always entry lists for each race. It also takes a while to sort out who was meant to be racing and who wasn't. Generally speaking, we could probably assume that if a driver set a qualifying time, then he was entered for the race - therefore, if he didn't start the race then 'DNS' should be marked in the table.
This is an issue I'd been meaning to bring up. But so far we've been concentrating just on getting the results up. --Mal McKee 17:27, 19 November 2011 (EST)
Also, there is an option in the legend for drivers who withdrew from the competition: 'WD'. --Mal McKee 17:29, 19 November 2011 (EST)
With the seasons I've done I've been doing it the way Philip states, so I'd definitely say stick with that. --Chris williamson 18:07, 19 November 2011 (EST)
The problem with WD is that, as opposed to F1, drivers in the vwc come and go and we'd risk flooding the table with WDs. William Ponissi
I just made a start on the contructors table and I worked my way through the official results, many times drivers will qualify but not actually race therefore we should standardise DNS as a qualified driver that did not take the start of the race, - becomes DNP, just like the key indicates. Bit of a pain to edit the whole driver table again but I think when someone gets time it should be done. --Adam Rouse 10:43, 20 November 2011 (EST)
