The Young Driver Test is a relatively new addition to the GPVWC Superleague season. The test's aim is to give those drivers who participate in Supercup or Formula Challenge a chance to try the year's Superleague car in an official practice session. The 2016 test will take place at Interlagos.

The Young Driver Test took place at Silverstone from 2013 to 2014; the 2015 test was scheduled to take place there also but was cancelled. The inaugural test in 2012 took place at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

In the initial test, teams were allowed to run two cars with actual race drivers alongside reserves. Those without a team contract were forced to run in a Courtesy Car as R&D points were distributed for the amount of work done in the 165 minute session. For 2013, the rules were amended so that teams could now run three cars with drivers who did not hold a contract with them. It was later confirmed that drivers with four or more races experience were denied access to the test. Alongside this information, it was also confirmed that no R&D points would be earned therefore making the test have no effect on the cars of the following seasons.
