As the 2nd half of the [[Superleague]] season dawned, the teams assembled themselves in the desert circuit at [[Sakhir]] for the [[Bahrain Grand Prix]]. With [[Draig Racing]] in the midst of a financial crisis, championship leader [[Lee Morris]] was looking to get his season back on track after four successive races without a win. However qualifying didn't go the Englishman's way as Maltese driver [[Jason Muscat]] stormed to pole with a blistering time of 1:28.846, which was a full half second ahead of [[Joe Consiglio]] who had just managed to pip Morris. Behind them [[David Jundt]] was the best of the rest, narrowly beating an improved [[Phil Perkins]] and [[Ryan Walker]].

As the race got underway the order at the front remained largely the same until a close battle between Consiglio and Morris resulted in Morris taking 2nd place on Lap 2. David Jundt held onto third place and while he couldn't quite hang on to the lead group, he did manage to build a cushion over 5th placed [[Bart De Vos]]. Further back there were several small incidents through the field in the opening phase of the race, including a collision between [[Ojay Clark]] and [[Dave-Carr Smith]] and spectacular barrel roll from [[Chris Williamson]].

With a lighter fuel load Jason Muscat started to pull out a slender lead over his rivals before making his first stop on Lap 15. Also stopping early was Joe Consiglio who was the only one of the front runners to opt for 3 stops, later stating that this choice was made due to concern over a repeat of the brake wear issues that cost him dearly in [[2011 Australian Grand Prix|Australia]]. Morris and Jundt both had their stops on Lap 21 and the positions were restored for a while as the four leaders stretched away from the rest of the field.

The final round of pit stops proved to be much more significant as once again it was Muscat who was the first to blink. Sensing a golden opportunity, Lee Morris put in some stunning laps and managed to retain the lead when he made his final stop. At the same time David Jundt was able to take control of thrid place as Consiglio made his 3rd stop of the day. In the closing stages several drivers suffered brake issues, including De Vos, Perkins and [[Jyri Lylykorpi]] and saw them drop several places. The order at the front however remained the same as Morris got his season back on track, winning the race by 9 seconds ahead of Jason Muscat. Behind them David Jundt was the best of the rest, narrowly beating an improved Phil Perkins and Ryan Walker.

Race

As the race got underway the order at the front remained largely the same until a close battle between Consiglio and Morris resulted in Morris taking 2nd place on Lap 2. David Jundt held onto third place and while he couldn't quite hang on to the lead group, he did manage to build a cushion over 5th placed Bart De Vos. Further back there were several small incidents through the field in the opening phase of the race, including a collision between Ojay Clark and Dave-Carr Smith and spectacular barrel roll from Chris Williamson.

With a lighter fuel load Jason Muscat started to pull out a slender lead over his rivals before making his first stop on Lap 15. Also stopping early was Joe Consiglio who was the only one of the front runners to opt for 3 stops, later stating that this choice was made due to concern over a repeat of the brake wear issues that cost him dearly in Australia. Morris and Jundt both had their stops on Lap 21 and the positions were restored for a while as the four leaders stretched away from the rest of the field.

The final round of pit stops proved to be much more significant as once again it was Muscat who was the first to blink. Sensing a golden opportunity, Lee Morris put in some stunning laps and managed to retain the lead when he made his final stop. At the same time David Jundt was able to take control of thrid place as Consiglio made his 3rd stop of the day. In the closing stages several drivers suffered brake issues, including De Vos, Perkins and Jyri Lylykorpi and saw them drop several places. The order at the front however remained the same as Morris got his season back on track, winning the race by 9 seconds ahead of Jason Muscat. David Jundt made it two Red Archers on the podium and in doing so claimed his first ever GPVWC podium.
