The 2020 Race of Champions was the 5th running of the GPVWC Race of Champions and marks the return of the event since 2015. The event was held at the 19th and 20th of November. Unlike previous years, the 2020 Race of Champions only had a individual event.

Prior to these postponements, the Team event was moved into one day on November 4th - instead of the usual two-day format - in order to ensure a higher quality event overall after a surprisingly low amount of confirmations of availability from drivers for the event. This would have resulted in some teams receiving byes through to the second round.

Cars Used

  • Radical (First Round)
  • VW Funcup (Second Round)
  • Renault Megané (Quarter Final)
  • USF2000 (Semi-Final)
  • Streetstocks (Nascar) (Final)

Formats

The Individual Event included 32 drivers - 16 drivers who had a seeded rank meaning they did well in the 2020 championships, and 16 unranked drivers who not necessary had a good 2020 racing season, the unranked drivers also included former race winners who signed up very late.

To guarantee a fair and balanced competition, there was a random draw.

The draw for the individual Event.

Format

Each 'match-up' would be comprised of a maximum of two, 'two-laps' races in a best-of-three format. This gives each driver the opportunity to atleast drive 2 races.

The Final 'match-up' would be a best of three, 'two-lap' races in a best-of-five format
