The 2009 Masters Series season was the first GPVWC Masters Series season. The series was organised in order to allow the league an alternative type of racing to the usual open wheel categories offered by the GPVWC.

Report
Race Weekend Format
2 races per ‘round’. Consisting of a 30 minute feature race, and a 20 minute sprint race. The starting grid for Race 2 will be the reversed results of Race 1.
Practice = 10 minutes
Qualifying = 15 minutes
Warm-up = 5 minutes
Race 1 (Feature) = 30 minutes
Race 2 (Sprint) = 20 minutes
Season summary
The season was largely dominated by Adam Rouse who took 10 victories on his way to a convincing points win over his nearest challengers, team-mates Philip Cullen and Ryan McConkey who along with Rouse went on to clinch the Constructors title for MMC Racing on its return to the GPVWC. The racing provided exciting battles, particularly in the reversed grid sprint races. The season provided us with 6 different race winners over 18 rounds in which 24 different drivers took part. The series first season was deemed a success and the format was carried over to the 2010 Masters Series season.
