The 2019 Supercup season is the 12th GPVWC Supercup season. From 2019 onwards, Supercup is no longer the second tier in the GPVWC Career Ladder, as the newly-created Superleague Lights championship was introduced between Supercup and Superleague at the end of 2018. While Supercup itself remained largely unchanged, the quest to fill the brand-new, more technically-orientated championship saw a great migration of teams from Supercup, and even Formula Challenge, directly into the Superleague Lights for the start of 2019.
One noticeable change for 2019 was the shift of race days; Supercup rounds now take place on Tuesdays, instead of the traditional Wednesdays.

Teams and drivers
Team changes
- Scuderia Basilea, Green Stripes Racing and YTF1 were promoted to the Superleague.
- Scuderia Clay Geeli, Cosmo Seiki Japan, Draig Racing and Holland Racing Team were promoted to the newly-created second-tier championship, the Superleague Lights.
- Deltec Racing Team and THUnderdog did not continue in the Career Ladder into 2019.
New entries
- Downforce Racing and Shift Gear Racing were promoted from Formula Challenge. Drillers Motorsport also moved up to Supercup, becoming a separate entity to Torrent Motorsports.
- Frami Autosport, Fusion Racing, Team Rookie Monsters, Rowen GP and TCS Off Racing all made their Career Ladder debuts in 2019.
Returning entries
- Former Supercup champions Torrent Motorsports returned to the series, having been promoted from Formula Challenge. Torrent last competed in Supercup in their championship-winning year, 2012.
- Enterprise Pulsars, previously known as Enterprise GP, returned to the Supercup after a 2-year absence.
Technical changes
- The engine formula was changed from naturally-aspriated V8s to turbochard V6 powerplants.
- Adjustable fuel mixture settings were introduced to the championship.
- Other changes include revised gear ratios, tyres and aerodynamics.
2019 Calendar
For 2019, the Career Ladder schedule has been radically adjusted, with Supercup races moving from Wednesdays to Tuesday nights.

Calendar changes
The 2019 calendar was reduced from 18 down to 16 rounds.
- The Chinese, French, Austrian, Hungarian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix were removed from the calendar.
- The Malaysian, Bahrain and Turkish Grands Prix made a return after a gap of four and two seasons absent respectively.
