The 2016 Vintage Series season is the inaugural season of its kind at the GPVWC.

Premise

At the 2015 GPVWC Day, it was announced a new series titled would run in 2016. It would be run using rFactor as an aside to the league's excursions on rFactor 2 and would feature retro Formula 1 cars.

It was announced in February 2016 that Stormcharge would be the sponsor of all Vintage Series events in the 2016 season, as a continuation of their partnership with the GPVWC.

Teams and drivers

It was announced that no official teams would enter the 2016 championship; instead, the drivers would be assigned to the cars that competed in the 1991 Formula 1 World Championship. However, the cars would all be equalised in performance.
