While Supercup itself remained largely unchanged, the quest to fill the brand-new, more technically-orientated championship saw a great migration of teams from Supercup, and even Formula Challenge, directly into the Superleague Lights for the start of 2019.

One noticeable change for 2019 was the shift of race days; Supercup rounds now take place on Tuesdays, instead of the traditional Wednesdays.

  • Former Supercup champions Torrent Motorsports returned to the series, having been promoted from Formula Challenge. Torrent last competed in Supercup in their championship-winning year, 2012.
  • Enterprise Pulsars, previously known as Enterprise GP, returned to the Supercup after a 2-year absence.

Technical changes

  • The engine formula was changed from naturally-aspriated V8s to turbochard V6 powerplants.
  • Adjustable fuel mixture settings were introduced to the championship.
  • Other changes include revised gear ratios, tyres and aerodynamics.

For 2019, the Career Ladder schedule has been radically adjusted, with Supercup races moving from Wednesdays to Tuesday nights.
