The 2016 World Sport Series season was the fifth GPVWC World Sport Series season. Kevin Siggy entered the season as defending Drivers' champion, however the reigning Teams' champions, Walk Racing, did not return following the announcement of their closure in late 2015. This meant that there was to be a guaranteed fifth different Teams' champion in the five years the series had run. That team was Vod:Bul Racing though neither of their drivers could take the crown of champion as ultimately that title was taken from Siggy by Edonis Engineering's Ruud Heesterbeek.

1 Aurelio Russo qualified for round 1 in Russia but did not race owing to his removal from the league in between qualifying and the race - he was banned from GPVWC and had all results from 2016 deleted following the discovery that he was a previously banned driver racing under an alias.
2 Cosmo Autosport withdrew from the season prior to the Canadian round.
