Team changes
- Wauters Automotive and Storm Racing Team were both promoted to the Superleague.
- Smile Power Racing's entry was taken over by Evolution Motorsport
- Centurion Grand Prix's was taken over by TG Racing with Terence Grech takes full ownership of the team.
- Neither Walk Racing, PB Racing or Positive SimRacing continued into the 2016 season.
- TSA Racing, having withdrawn from the 2015 championship mid-season, also did not continue into 2016.
New entries
- Ice Cold Racing, Team Proline and Karjala Racing were all promoted from the Formula Challenge.
Returning entries
- Centurion Grand Prix was also promoted from Formula Challenge, returning to the Supercup following a year's absence.
- Racing Team Schroten was promoted from Formula Challenge, returning to the Supercup after four years of absence.
2016 Calendar
Calendar changes
- The Portuguese and Singapore Grands Prix were both removed from the calendar
- The calendar was extended to 18 events seeing the return of the Dutch and Mexican Grands Prix after a 3 and 4 year absence respectively whilst also seeing the first running of the Russian Grand Prix.
