Bart de Vos is a Belgian sim-racer who currently drives for Hawkeye Racing in the Superleague. He is the 2011 Supercup champion.

Pre-GPVWC

Bart De Vos's online simracing career started in 2010 when he drove his first online race for ERL. In his first ever race, a Megane Trophy, he had been leading the field until his connection failed. Back in the times at ERL he raced against people who are also active at GPVWC, people who would later convince him to join GPVWC. At ERL Bart ran in various classes such as Megane Trophy, F1 and GP2. Before the start of the ERLgp season, teams needed to be made. Bart didn't know many people as he was still new to simracing, so he decided to join the team formed by Lewis Redshaw (who joined ERL and started simracing on about the same day). The team would be called WKD-Mercedes racing. It was the first full season for the two youngsters who were starting to settle themselves more and more. The WKD car was painted by Gavin Thomas and known for it's flashy colours and therefore given the nickname "Rainbow-car". Eventually WKD ended up fifth in the championship, behind Malthese Thunder and Draig Racing. In the Drivers Championship Bart ended up fifth and was given the trophy for most fair and sporty driver of the season. After the ERLgp season it was very clear Bart and Lewis were a good team pushing each other faster and faster every time, with the results being shown in Supercup season 2011.

ERLgp was the last season of the ERL league which would be re-branded as WCS league. With this change many of the ERL members left the league, most of them are now active at GPVWC.

GPVWC induction

In the 2011 pre-season Bart was asked by Jason Muscat to join his GPVWC Supercup team Malta Force. Bart accepted the invitation and started his GPVWC career.

2011 Supercup

His first meeting with the car was in the pre-season test race at the Kuala Lumpur track in Malaysia. Sam Millar took pole position but Bart managed to win the test race, here it was clear that the physics of the car suited his driving style.

The season started extremely well for Bart "a lot better than I had ever could imagine". In his début race in Australia he took pole, fastest lap and the win, even though at one moment he lost control of his car and spun into the wall causing him to lose his front wing.

The second race he did the same again, but this time it was a bit more controversial. In the opening laps Bart collided with Sam Millar, which caused Sam to hit the wall, lose his wheel and end his race. In the third race of the season at Suzuka, Bart didn't take part cause he was on an obligatory school trip to Paris. Jason Muscat replaced him and won the race.

The fourth race in China saw some new faces to the grid in the form of Simon Cattell and Lewis Redshaw. Bart took pole position, but the race turned out to be quite different. in the race there was some serious competition from Simon, the two drivers were very close for a very long time, until Bart's connection failed and he had to retire. Simon Cattell was now looking at an easy win until he suddenly lost control of his car and lost his rear wing. This gave the win to the other newcomer to the season Lewis Redshaw who started from pit-lane and fought his way through the pack to also win his début race in a sublime way.
