Gavin Thomas is a Welsh former sim-racing driver and team manager who has taken part in the Superleague and Supercup and Masters championships. He was banned from the GPVWC in July 2012 for abusing members of the league.

Superleague

2009

Gavin made his début in the GPVWC at Bahrain in 2009, driving for Gear F1 alongside his friend, Wayne Mullins. He would later move to Maximum Racing towards the end of the season.

2010

Thomas co-founded Red 5 Racing with Mullins, only for the pair to have a dispute about the ability of the car in the early stages of the season which saw the team assets sold to Marco Vandenbroeck and rebranded Yellowbirds GP. This dispute saw Mullins move to Draig Racing while Thomas found a drive with Synergetic, scoring his first point in Japan. Later in the season however, he found the Cosworth power-plant too be unreliable and moved to Oz Racing, scoring his best ever result in Turkey with 8th place.

2011

In 2011, Thomas signed for the Computrac Motorsports (rebranded from Yellowbirds GP). He took over control of the Belgian outfit as Vandenbroeck became inactive. Thomas scored his only points finish of the season in Canada, the highlight of an otherwise poor season which saw him retire eight times from fifteen starts.

2012

Thomas took complete control of Computrac in the off-season and again underwent what became a seasonal re-branding. The team returned to it's Red 5 moniker and secured the sought after Ferrari engine during the bidding process. Despite high expectations, the season would follow the trend of previous seasons. Thomas sold up ownership of the team to Jamez Shepherd after the Canadian Grand Prix. He would be banned from the community a month after his final start.

Supercup

2010

Gavin Thomas drove for his own team in 2010 and went on to score two podiums. His season suffered by a high amount of retirements that eventually saw him cross the line only three times.

2011

Thomas returned to the Supercup grid in 2011 in Supercup, Thomas finished a respectable 4th in Melbourne along with a 10th in Japan. He took a sabbatical for five races before returning in the British Supercup race, taking 7th after a formation lap incident. Thomas' fortunes waned as the season went on and would only finish in the points at Spa once more before the season concluded.
