EIRE have been strangely silent in the last few weeks.

Last night, a visiblily worried William Ponissi held a press conference in which he spoke to the media about the current status of the Irish team.

The Kildare man apologized for the lack of updates on the website (which has got a new domain @ http://web.archive.org/web/20030308203940/http://www.eire-online.tk/ ) and the lack of press releases.

"The team is silent, but we're working inside the Rodano factory a lot. Many things are expected to come in the next few weeks."

"I've been particularly busy in the last days, due to my university exams, the last of which will be on February the 5th.

The car livery is almost finished, and we're sorting out the last things before our team launch."

The EIRE team manager also announced the date of the launch.

"The party is set for February the 5th, and it will be held, as usual, in Rodano, @ the team HQ. Later in the day, we'll move to Monza for a on-track show of the new E02, and then we'll move to the Hollywood disco, which i know some of my friends in F1 really like."

He was clearly referring to Eddie Irvine, known to be one of the most loyal customers of the place.

Ponissi added also some lines about the latest performances of the team.

"We've met some difficulties. I'm personally trying to learn to drive with a new system on the car, and it takes loads to learn it.

I'm really embarassed about my times. The most embarassing thing is when people come, they pat on your back and say "c'mon, it's gonna be better someday" - and you're realize they're driving a SCUM - that's really frustrating.

Daniel is driving really well at the moment, not yet at his best, but i think he's saving for Melbourne.

Stevie had loads of personal problems to face, so he has other things to think about. We are giving him all the support of ours.

And Tim... is Tim. He's a really hard worker and he's doing a great job for F3000."
