Local hero Jason Smith drove the perfect lap to clinch pole position in his home Grand Prix.

Smith was three tenths faster than Jason Endean, who in change kept Dickson and American Dan Pyrik behind him.

Thomas Kimmich was astoundingly missing from the qualifying session, with this being something that could hamper his Championship bid.
