As the Drivers Championship showdown draws ever closer and the Japanese crowd get even more excited, here's the permutations whereby each of the three drivers can be crowned F1VWC 2003 Drivers Champion:

Current standings

Shiro Ryong - 104 points

Daniel Wilkinson - 98 points

Mikko Jakonen - 94 points.

(The points scoring system is 10; 8; 6; 5; 4; 3; 2; 1 for the top 8 finishers)

Shiro Ryong is Champion if he finishes ahead of both his rivals, and definitely if he finishes in 4th place or higher.

Daniel Wilkinson is Champion if he scores 6 points more than Shiro Ryong and Jakonen does NOT win the Japanese GP (based on count-back of wins compared to Ryong), and definitely wins if he scores 7 points more than Shiro.

Mikko Jakonen, current GPVWC World Champion, needs to win the Japanese Grand Prix, Ryong to score no points, and Wilkinson to finish 3rd or lower - he then wins on count-back based on 3rd placed finishes throughout the season!

Bearing in mind that reliability issues are a factor in the F1VWC, anything can happen!
