Kieran Ryan, 2nd in the GPVWC 2002, announces a "semi-sabbatical" until June 2004.

''Due to personal reasons I have decided to take a 6 month sabbatical beginning from January 'till the Canadian grand prix (inclusive).

The reasons behind this are mixed. One of which would be the fact that I would not be able to give my usual 100% devotion to a league and a team that I have grown to enjoy and love to drive in. I'll be busy with up and coming important tests that will occupy much of my time and in any event would not of been able to attend both the Australian and Canadian gps for sure. However, upon a rethink I would of been quite busy and any involvement with a league would of been a distraction that in my final year I do not need. If I did attempt to do both, one or both would suffer so sadly I have decided to take this breif 6 month sabatical that I hope will fly by.

I'll be back for sure looking and scouting for a good fast drive after the Canadian grand prix were I can finally put behind these tests and look forward to ending the year on a good note and hopefully finally getting a full year again in 2005 challanging for the title.

I had been asked by many teams to drive for them and on 2 occassions I came so close to a deal, but due to various reasons I had to decline these offers.

It's sad to have to announce this but I must do myself justice for the future. It's annoying though because once again another year will have slipped me by where perhaps I could of been well within championship winning contention like 2001.

I wish all in the league the very best for 2004 and I'll be back in June I hope (if I can get a drive that is) to do some damage!

I'll be giving a much more detailed interview for the Simracing Magazine where I'll be asked various questions on various topics, so that's something to look forward to, off for 6 months and get harrassed by the media in the process!!''
