Recent rumours suggest Ryan McConkey told SimRacing magazine that he would reportedly want to swap drivers with EIRE manager Willy Ponissi, if Australian, Scott Whiteman, won all of the first 5 races.

MMC Racing team manager and co owner Ryan McConkey responded with this statement, "Those reports are simply not true. Mr. Whiteman himself suggested that if he wins all the first 5 races, he would join the team in last place, which would of course NOT be MMC."

He went on by saying, "I would obviously be tempted to swap Sleight for Whiteman, but only if my team didn't have to pay a fee. It's quite certain though that that would never happen. After the Japanese GP, Paul and I set a goal for the 2004 season and promised each other that we'd stick with it and try our best at the 2004 championship. We are still keeping that promise, which is why this rumour isn't true. I'd never do that to Paul and I think he knows that."

McConkey hinted, "We are interested in a driver that drove for EIRE in the past though." He then said that the mystery driver would only have a test driver seat and quite possibly a temporary race seat during the summer.
