Dave Cummings, team boss of Puma F1, held a brief interview with the F1VWC Press during a busy schedule leading up to the Malaysian GP.

Your first race, what are your thoughts?

"Well a lot of running around and testing and mayhem, haven?t disturbed the team as much as I thought it would, we didn?t expect very much at our first race but a 18th and 19th have done the team well, especially because we got to the finish".

You are releasing a new package, are there problems with the current one?

"Yes and No. The car we have at the minute is last years Stealth with new parts bolted on, we weren?t expecting to be in a position to race only a few months ago. We have been rushed but the PMA-01B will hopefully be out on track after Austria".

Your cars both stopped twice. Was that wrong, seeing as most stopped three times?

"Again yes and no. the cars finished the race, and we got I feel some respectable positions, we wanted to get the first couple of races done and away with before we release the new car and engine package".

Will you get your point, the main goal for your initial F1VWC season?

"I think in a way we have made a point with the Porsche engines, but as for points we are a long way back in this round, a clear sign for were we need to develop the car, and we are currently talking with our drivers for 2005 and we have our eyes on a few certain people for a race drive in 2005".

Are you happy with your current drivers?

"Yes I am happy, but I feel we could do better, but then again I might make a bad choice, all decisions go through the B.O.D. before a choice is made".

You were watching Whiteman and Sleight closely and you even missed your cars finishing the race, you were apparently seen further down the pit lane?

It is rumoured that you will drive at one round this year, if so who will be out of the car for that event?

"Yes I will be racing at Monaco. Who goes out for that race will be decided on things like who has the most points (if any) will stay in for that one round, and if no-one has any point either we will just ask Marek and Andreas for one for them to move out for the race".

F1VWC News Comment:- Changes afoot in the Puma F1 camp, but at what cost? And is team boss Cummings ready to ?poach? a big name from the existing grid?
