Simsoa have managed to kick start their campaign this season, with Kieran Ryan driving calmly and consistenly to a well-deserved 6th place and 3 points for the Japanese team. This jumps Simsoa to 8th in the constructors' just behind JTM. The excitement from the paddock was self-evident:

LAWRENCE: "YEAH! WELL DONE, KIERAN. P6! GOOD JOB!"

KIERAN: "That's it?! S**t! Nearly had Antonio!''

LAWRENCE: "No worries, mate. P6. 3 points...we'll sort it out at Monaco! Well done!"

At the post-race press conference, Kieran had this to say about his race: "I had a good consistant race. Everything seemed to be working well. The car felt good, tyres, pit stops eveything went well. As the race progressed I decided to alter my strategy, after being held up early on, I wanted to be as fast as I could. The team did well in every stop, clean stops with no problems. I managed to fight past both FinOzs which is an achivement in itself! In the last few laps, I was targeting Antonio for 5th but with so little laps remaining I couldn't get by the Phoenix, which at times became very wide. It was a fun race and to get 3 points at a track I openly hate, I'm pretty satisfied with my weekend's word. On to Monaco next and that is a track that suits me better. I feel a good performance is on for there and with new bits for the car hopefully coming after the Magny-Course test, I think we will have a real fighting chance!''

Javier also improved in front of his Catalan fans with a steady drive to 14th, his best so far this season. Lawrence was openly euphoric at the first points finish of the season: "I'm still amazed at Kieran's speed after being away from the sport for a while. It's great to have some points and we all thank him for his services with us. As for Monaco, we can now be ever hopeful for a podium finish as his past times at the track look very promising. Hopefully, the car can be improved quite a lot at France this week, so fingers crossed."

Javier will be testing with David Brown, who has returned from his holiday and is keen as he will partner Kieran in Monaco.
