The top 3 qualifiers from the British GP sat down in front of the F1VWC News team and provided feedback on their qualifying performance at Silverstone.

Pole Position - Philip Williams (Woods Racing - Toyota)

1) Wow! An amazing lap there to put your Woods Toyota onto pole! How did it go?

I was very surprised because it was a good lap but I didn't expect it to be pole. I suffered from some understeer and the last sector was a bit slow so it wasn't perfect. It was a close fight with Steve and I think we put on a good show for the spectators. We definitely showed the potential of the WR04a and I am very happy with the result.

2) A relatively short race here at Silverstone, how important is it to be on the right strategy?

Strategy is always very important but at Silverstone there are various options avialable, which I think is illustrated by the grid line up. But you have to make your strategy work for you and find some clean air to be able to push to the limit. I am confident we are on a good startegy and pole position is the best place to start for a strong result.

3) Can we expect to see Phil Williams back in the F1VWC again this season?

I will be here as a test driver for the rest of the season and if required I will fill in for a race drive. I would like to do more at F1VWC but free time is always a big issue.

4) Is the win possible?

It will be a hard fight for the win. As well as the drivers at the front end of the grid, I would keep an eye on Scott and Mikko coming through the field. If we finish with both cars in the points it would be a great achievement. The win would be fantastic.

2nd - Steve Elencevski (FinOz - Ferrari (c))

1) Steve, you really took the battle to Williams on that lap, how did it go?

I have to say that i pretty much nailed that lap, it was the most i could get out of the car/package & was right on the limit, if not just over.

2) Many believe it is impossible to beat Phil Williams, how can you perform in the race?

I think it will be very tough, we experienced lots of tyre wear in the practise sessions over long stints, so i just hope our tyre's can last over the longer runs.

As for Phil, i did some research on him & he definitely is a mega-fast driver. If we can finish within 30secs of his race time, then we've done great.

3) With your championship rivals down in 8th and 9th, is this your chance to gain valuable points over them?

That's the idea yes, it's a great opportunity to close up on them, but i wouldn't right them off just yet. They are obviously on a different strategy & will come into play later on in the race, we'll just have to wait & see how it pans out after we've all made our final pit stops.

3rd - Daan Van Renswoude (EIRE - Jaguar)

Daan wasn't available for comment - we hope to catch up with him later.
