Team Boss Andy Graydon, absent from his normal role at the last event when he actually raced, was a much happier man after qualifying for the Hungarian GP.

Kieran Ryan, driving his last contracted race for the team in 2004, put the PF1-02 in an impressive 3rd on the grid, with Antonio Irisarri gaining 8th. On a track where it will be difficult to pass, these positions show promise for the potnetial race performance of both drivers and their cars.

We caught up with Kieran Ryan and asked him how his qualifying session went:-

"It started out as a very difficult weekend for us. I had a lot of understeer through most of Friday and there wasn't much grip from the tyres which held through to qualifying. The boys did a good job though we did get rid of most of the understeer by qualifying but I was left with some sliding of the car at the rear, not too much but enough to cost me a tenth about.

The car was also very undersettled over the kerbs which reduced my confidence to really throw it over them, but overall I'm quite satisfied to be 3rd on the grid here after last year's bad run.

For Sunday I think a podium would be brilliant. I think I've chosen a good strategy from which I should hopefully reap the rewards. If I get just a couple of points I could move from 8th to 4th in the championship which is where I aim to be after Brazil, I look forward to race day!"

Graydon had the following comment to make:-

"Kieran has qualified well again for the team, an impressive performance in a car he's not particularly used to. But on race day I want both cars in the points. With Koski qualifying down in 14th, this could be our opportunity to take advantage and outscore FinOz in the Constructors standings. Of course, I'm sure that Steve Elencevski will be doing his best to keep the gap stable between FinOz and Phoenix F1! But we hope to have a good result here."
