FinOz Racing moved up to second place in both championships following the Hungarian GP few days ago. Team star driver Steve Elencevski claimed his 3rd pole of the season and drove a superb race, taking a comfortable win after leading 66 laps out of 77 in total. 10 points for Steve, and with Scott Whiteman not scoring any points this helped to move the Australian into 2nd place in the Drivers Championship. The gap to the champ leader Mikko Jakonen is now down to 19 points.

Steve's 10 points helped FinOz as a team take 2nd place in the Constructors Championship also. EIRE didn't score a single point and now FinOz lie in 2nd place, 39 points behind the leading Mapes-VO team. The gap to 1st place might be too big, but the team is pushing very hard to keep second place, as team manager Kari Koski said that this is now the teams main target for this year after a good point scoring result at Germany.

Team manager / Driver Kari Koski was a very happy man after Steve's victory:

"We were sure we could have some good results this year. We were hoping for podium finishes and front row qualifying positions. But 3rd pole and 2nd win for Steve on a track like the Hungaroring is just unbelievable. Now we are very optimistic for the next 3 races as Spa, Monza and Magny-Cours which should suit our car and drivers better."

As driver Kari commented his own race also:

"I'm very disappointed for my own result at Hungary. It was just one of those races where everything goes wrong from the start till the finish. 14th place in qualifying was awful. The race was better but I wasn't able to find the speed on low fuel trim either. I made a few mistakes and had some trouble with the backmarkers, but even without those I don't think I would have been able to finish in the points this time. I'm just happy it's now over and we get next to the tracks like Spa, it's just great."
