The Two Simsoa's managed to qualify 11th and 16th, not exactly their best, but much better than they could've imagined given the circumstances.

The team has been hit by a surge of bad luck since Hungary (except for the 2 points David scored there) and now, Javier's wheel had been damaged! One of the connector shafts to the steering column had buckled, moments after the Belgian GP.

By the time this was found out on the Wednesday before Monza, there wasn't enough time to give Javier a new wheel, so he'd have to make do with Simsoa's analog wheel (e.g. keyboard). Nevertheless, he still could drive a decent time.

David was quite pleased with his performance, having thought that Monza would be a lost cause, the forecast of unpredictable weather on race day seems to have certainly helped, and with the prospect of more advantages come the race, the team could see another top 10 finish.
