Chris Connolly, who last year helped A-Racing achieve the top position in the Constructor's Championship, announced his retirement from racing:

"After racing in a successful season with A-Racing in 2000, I have decided on leaving the team before the start of the 2001 season.

I've come to this decision after much thought about the level of committment I'd have for 2001.

Educational committments at TAFE, and busy times at work, would make participation in the league near to impossible. I wouldn't have enough time to practise, qualify and race at the level of skill required for finishing highly in Grand Prix's.

I believe that if A-Racing was to do well in 2001, it would have to be done with another driver who will be more committed. I will still be around though as a fan of the GPVWC, and will most likely be looking after the A-Racing website.

I would like to wish all 2001 teams and drivers the best of luck for this coming season, and I'm sure this year will be way better than last season, due to much improved management, and organisation with rules, etc.

I know that Dan will continue doing a fantastic job in managing this league and website, and making this league continuously grow and improve to stay the best ever GP3 racing league ever.

I enjoyed my time racing in the GPVWC, and will enjoy watching on as the best driver becomes the 2001 GPVWC Champion!"
