At a press conference this morning TBA Team Owner Chaz Charlton announced the line-up that will compete for this year's title.
Continuing his employment with TBA, Jonas Lindberg was pleased to be staying with the team that provided him with 2 points scoring drives last year. "I'm delighted to be signed with TBA once again and I'm really looking forward to start the new season with the new powerful engine from AMT and the superb chassis provided by Sauber"
Newcomer to the GPVWC, Stephen Wilson, will join the team after posting some impressive testing times in the pre-season testing. He had this to say: "I would like to confirm that I have signed a contract with TBA for the 2001 season. Negotiations went on for a long time but eventually Chaz talked me into it. I can't wait for the new season to begin and I look forward to seeing you all at Albert park in March. I also can't wait to meet the pit-babes! Good luck everybody."
Charlton was quick to add that both drivers are on equal status and there is no number 1 driver; a strong belief at TBA. Further to announcing his driver line-up, Charlton revealed the long term plans for TBA stating that he saw this as a consolidation year for the team and his contracts (both driver & mechanical) would allow the team to expand throughout the season and make a serious bid for the 2002 driver and constructors crown a reality.
"This year, realistically, I expect us to be at the top end of the mid-field if we get some luck, which I think the team are due after last year! Whatever happens we know that we're going to carry on the spirit in which we finished last season!"
Another addition to the team is Jonas's brother Tobias who will act in the chief mechanic role and is having a major contribution into the livery of the car TBA will be running this year.
The same motley crew of mechanics, PR and general hangers-on remain at TBA despite regular entanglements with the law last year and the team still have several court appearances pending. Not the least of which being a rather disturbing charge of 'sexual and moral indecency' by the teams physical well-being officer Candy 'bury me in a y shaped coffin' Montague and a certain home video featuring the aforementioned Ms. Cotton and parties known only as Mr. X and Mr. Y and a disturbing amount of whipped cream (with strawberries). Rumours in the paddock has been heard that Mr X and Mr. Y are actually prominent members of Team RaceBase and DL Racing though these rumours are circumspect at best.
