Due to 2 appeals by drivers who were disqualied from Brazil Qualification, a Governing Body meeting has been called and is scheduled to take place on Monday evening (UK Time).
Jason Smith of DL Racing BMW feels that his penalty was unjustified, as he had made no error. It has been found that his Team Manager [Dan Lawrence] failed to send him the 2001 rules and screenshots depicting corner cutting. He is appealing the decision to add a 60 second penalty to his overall race time, and his loss of P5 grid position as he feels this was a team error and not a driver error.
Andrew Dickson of DPI Cosworth is under a similar situation, he was not forwarded the 2001 rules by his team manager, Daniel Prescott, so therefore had no idea that steering help was limited to 30%.
It has been suggested that the teams do not gain any constructors points from the Grand Prix in question, but the drivers should be allowed to gain points due to this being a team error and not a driver error.
The verdict of this meeting will be posted on the website as soon as possible.
