In a brief press statement, Ollie Woods replied to accusations of hypocrisy levelled at him:

"Woods Racing would like to make it clear that Philip Williams was hired (at Williams' request) to cover Vincent Keersmaekers who had gone on holiday, since Williams was his GPChamps teammate. We would've hired anyone who offered, the fact that he happened to be fast was a bonus as we explained at the time. Given that we were later relegated from the F1VWC because of Keersmaekers' consistent no show, we think calling us "hypocritical" isn't fair at all.

Woods Racing will not be making comment on matters any more. We will be doing our utmost to score as many points as possible at the Brazilian Grand Prix despite the strongest lineups around since the start of the season. We wish everybody luck for the race, and hope that fairness will prevail."
