Romanian ace Laurentiu Albu drove the perfect lap to score an all-important Pole position in the 2008 GPVWC French Grand Prix. The Belami Racing driver-manager edged out Scott Whiteman by more than three tenths of a second, showing that he was the man in charge on the Magny-Cours track today.

Behind the top duo, things get crowded with three drivers stuck in little less than half a second. Mark Wicks, the World Championship leader, is third and will try to use the better side of the track to his advantage to chase Albu down the first corner. The last two of the qualifiers, instead, are the Dutch duo of Jeroen Jansen and Martijn Vosselman, both drivers in a desperate need of points to improve their position in the rankings.

Notable absences in qualifying are those of William Ponissi, Mal McKee and Michelangelo Manrique. These drivers, together with Daniel Bolman, are expected to start from the pit-lane.
