The qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix saw a decisive performance by Mark Wicks who declared all his will to fight for the final win in this 2008 season. The Cornish driver was only marginally faster than Jeroen Jansen, the Platform driver showing heaps of potential for a race in which his team badly needs as many points as possible.

Mal McKee, in the thick of the fight for P3 in the standings, closely edged out Laurentiu Albu, the Romanian driver needing an outstanding performance to defend his Championship lead against Wicks. Last of the qualifiers was William Ponissi, who appeared utterly off pace and in great difficulty on the narrow and twisty Hungaroring.
