The 2008 Monza Grand Prix provided the greatest of finales as drama unfolded in the last laps of a memorable race. The fight for an historical first win was only decided at the photo-finish with eventual winner William Ponissi edging out Platform Michelangelo's Jeroen Jansen squandering a 12 second lead with a last lap mistake. The off-track excursion allowed Ponissi to close the gap and use the power of his Mercedes Nordsjoen to overtake him right on the finish line, winning the race by a mere 0.020 seconds. Ponissi recorded his first win in a long career whcih started in 2002.

Behind the two authors of such a thrilling finale, Championship leader Laurentiu Albu collected another podium position to now edge 31 points above Mark Wicks and Ponissi himself in P2. Albu is now very close to claiming the World Championship, the Romanian driver only needing a handful of points to clinch the title.

In the Constructors' table, Belami Racing sees its advantage on Nordsjoen reduced to 7 points, the two teams the only realistic challengers for the final crown.
