Guest star Laurent Keersmaekers, a race-winner in the 2007 season, was the fastest on track in the first Donington pre-season test. The Belgian driver, in a one-off performance onboard the GPVWC test car, looked extremely at ease with his car and set a time only slightly better than Janne Tanskanen, who was second on Evans Blue Racing.
The test, which saw 14 drivers take the track, saw the Nordsjoen duo of Joe Consiglio and Adam Rouse in third and fourth respectively, with Jero Jansen, fifth, ahead of Chris Allen. The young British driver, who is looking to make his GPVWC debut in Melbourne in a month, keeps showing improvements, and fans and pundits alike wonder if he'll be already able to get in the fight for podium at the opening Australian GP.
In 8th, Jimmy Jones introduced himself to the league with a good showing - one that prompted at least one team in the paddock to send an offer to the American driver.
The GPVWC now moves to Florida for the next Pre-Season test, in Sebring. With the clock ticking down towards the opening of the season, the excitement is growing in the paddock, and the next tests will represent the last opportunities for teams to tune their cars for the Melbourne Grand Prix!
