Today saw Woods Racing announce their exciting test driver lineup for the 2011 season. After a season or two without a reliable test driver in tow, there was a look of great relief on Ollie Woods' face as he announced the news.

"Today I'm really proud to announce that we have two great drivers joining us this year as our test/reserve team. Firstly, we have Gregg Lawson, who raced last year with Williamson Dynamics for some time. We were really lucky in that I hinted we needed a test driver and he offered his services almost immediately. He has a great racing brain and a willingness to help out wherever we need him, which will be invaluable mid-season when our race drivers are feeling tired. Our other test driver is Dan Rusu, last seen in 2009 driving our second car towards the end of the season. He is already hard at work getting to know the car in order to be as much use as possible and I really can't fault him for the way he has set himself going already. He will also be driving in the Supercup for us - if anyone wants to join him, let me know! We are still actively negotiating with a second race driver; we hoped to announce him by now but we are still awaiting developments beyond our control."

Woods was also drawn into discussion about the 2011 challenger now that the design rules have been changed slightly. Rumours continue to abound that Mercedes will continue their partnership with the team after a successful 2010, and Woods smiled when asked about this. "It is no secret that I would love Mercedes on board again - in fact, our car has been designed with their plant in mind, going on the 2010 spec. This is, of course, assuming that their engine is as good as it was last year - something we have no doubt on. I haven't officially opened negotations with them as we are busy looking for sponsorship partners but I look forward to simple negotiations. If rumours are to be believed and they do indeed authorise a third engine, it will be great competition for us. Having said that, being one of two teams with the advantage is something we currently enjoy.

"Our 2011 car is looking great. We haven't been hit hard by the technical change - after all, why fix something that isn't broken? - so our car will be ready for Jerez and beyond very soon. I've heard that other teams, namely a certain championship-dominating team, have copied some of our design. I totally understand this because we had the best aero package in the league midway through last season and that's the way of F1. I'll only be worried if they try and steal my personalised number plate too!"
