Williamson Dynamics continue to enjoy strong pre-season progress after a consistent and fruitful showing at the opening GPVWC test of the season in Jerez. The team was one of the few who managed to run a full programme at the test with a number of teams suffering technical complaints and a lack of clear running.

The British squad, who recently relocated their GPVWC operations to Berlin, Germany , have also expressed happiness with the recent choice of venue for the second test, which will seethe team make a pre-season showing in Germany. Tom Eley, director of race engineering commented; "We ran a full programme and made a lot of great progress. We learned a lot about the car and tested a variety of components and functions, all in all it really could not have gone much better for us."

The team opted for an aggressive test programme, which saw all four contracted drivers take to the circuit during the session. "By assigning each drivera unique, tailor-made programme for the sesssion we managed to aid driver development while discovering all we could about the car.I must add that there was no emhasis on setting impressive lap times, that is not the aim at these sessions - its foolish to take times set here as indicators of form in the season ahead."

Despite these assertions, new signing Ojay Clark managed to set a time which kept him just within the top 5, with less than two-tenths seperating him and the car in front, which proved surprising to many present. Many in the paddock and the media have indicated off the record that they do not rate the team's chances this season and believe talk of a competetive campaign is nothing more than talk, clearly this is a result which could lead to some questioning their opinion.

Another shock to many in the paddock was Renault's apparant failure to dominate the timing boards. The French powerplant is strongly tipped this season, withsome teams considering lodging a formal request to cap the power on the unit. Eley finished up by adding his thoughts on Wd's own Mercedes power; "We have all been extremely impressed with the quality of the end product we have received. The company themselves have been exceptionally supportive both during the transition from Toyota, through to Jerez testing. I don't think Renault can honestly claim to hold all the cards here."

Team owner, Ben Williamson finished the press conference with some of his thoughts; "The test went wonderfully, I, and all the board, were very pleased with the outcome. I really could not have asked for more. Additionally, I would like to categorically reaffirm Williamson Dynamics' stance on the situation with Renault. While our drivers are entitled to their own opinions, neither myself, nor the team have any objection to the spec of unit Renault is providing this season. We believe we have a package capable of competing at the right end of the grid and the heavy fuel runs, and extensive tyre testing conducted by Tim, Roy and Adam have proven very encouraging. Ojay focussed on handling and a number of other variables and think we were treated to little of what he is capable of. i think with conistency in the season, we are well placed with a strong package and a strong team and I truly believe we can deliver significant improvements this season."
