Embattled team Draig Racing is rumoured to have started proceedings against fellow high-flyers Synergetic Motorsport regarding the signing of driver Liam Hatchell.

Draig Racing, which has entered talks for receivership after running out of money earlier this week, claimed in papers submitted to the GPVWC Administration that the signing of driver Hatchell, who had started the season with the Welsh team, was an unlawful move by Synergetic as the driver was still under contract with the Championship-leading outfit. Hatchell had surprisingly left the team after being replaced by current number 2 driver Ryan Walker at the Australian Grand Prix, and was signed in late April by Synergetic as a test driver.

Draig Racing which apparently paid Hatchell in excess of four million pounds before his departure, has allegedly filed a request for monetary compensation earlier this week. The GPVWC Administration is believed to be in the process of gathering evidence from all parties before taking a decision on the matter.

With the talks for a possible loan to save the team well underway, this new twist in the story ensures there is plenty going on for Draig off the track as well as on it as the team prepares for the Monaco Grand Prix with the looming danger of seeing the cars impounded as they arrive in the Principality.
