To kick off the second half of the GPVWC season, we welcome a new track on the calendar in form of the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari near Imola for the San Marino Grand Prix. Taking us around the track this week is ST Racing driver David Stanton.

Commentary: William Ponissi

Q. Did the ST car feel good around the Imola circuit and how satisfied are you with your lap?

DS. Around Imola from the first laps out of the pits the car felt pretty good and has had a good balance and handled the kerbs well, only a few adjustments to the setup has been needed to get a good race setup. With my lap itself I am quite satisfied with how it went. I think that there is still some time which can be found, but I think this lap is a pretty good starting point in which to improve on.

Q. Given that Imola is a new circuit on the calendar this season, what challenges do you think the circuit presents to the drivers?

DS. I think that with the addition of Imola to the calendar could prove to be a good decision as I think that the circuit could allow for some good close racing. I think one of the main challenges for the teams at this circuit will be that you need to have a car which can ride the kerbs well in order to get a good lap time, especially through the chicanes.

Q. How would you describe your driving style?

DS. I would describe my driving style as quite smooth for the most part trying to use as little steering as possible. I would say that the most aggressive part of my driving is my acceleration as I dont mind having the rear of the car stepping out of line because I much prefer having a car that oversteers rather than understeers.

Q. It's been a tough start to the season for you and the ST Racing team, so do you think the team's fortunes can improve at Imola and beyond?

DS. For Imola and beyond we are hoping that we can now start to challenge the midfield teams on a more regular basis because for the Bahrain GP we added a major upgrade to the car which seems to have improved the cars all round feel, so now it is just a matter of getting the best out of the package that we have available to us which should hopefully put us in the midfield battles more often and maybe scoring a few points if thing develop as we expect.
