Coming into the 19th round of the 2011 Superleague season, Joe Consiglio had the chance to claim his 2nd drivers crown in 3 years simply by finishing ahead of Lee Morris on the road. Many people up and down the paddock agreed this championship was effectively over and now all Consiglio needed to do was simply get it over with.

He did not disappoint by taking pole position in the qualifying session by just under a second ahead of Red Archer driver David Jundt. Nordsjoen #2 driver Pavel Loknovski qualified in 4th place whilst Red Archers 2nd driver Gregg Lawson qualified a couple of spots below in 6th position giving Nordsjoen an advantage on the grid in their battle with Red Archer for the constructors championship which looked set whatever the result to go down to the wire in the next race at Singapore. Elsewhere on the grid, Morris took an impressive 3rd for Draig after others did not fulfill the potential of their cars whilst Morris exacted the maximum from his car to line up on the 2nd row of the grid. Dave Carr-Smith of Midnight qualified in 5th with Kieran Ryan setting a time good enough for 7th grid, a good result for the Irishman after a difficult season on the track.Debutants Boyd Bryson of Woods set a time good enough for 18th on the grid whilst Viesturs Priede of ST Racing qualified in 20th position.

With the race underway, Consiglio got away cleanly and held the lead into the first turn. Behind him, Loknovski jumped into 2nd place with Morris falling rapidly down the field and ending the first lap in 9th position. Nick Rowland on the other hand had a storming start after having to start from the back of the grid, he found himself in 12th position at the end of lap1. At this stage, Nordsjoen looked to have a healthy lead over Red Archer who found their cars in 4th and 6th after lap 1. Viesturs Priede had a nightmare debut and retired 3 laps into his debut after visiting the pits twice. Things got worse for ST Racing as David Stanton retired 16 laps in to end the teams hopes of more points for the season.
