Following on from Adam Smith's announcement that Williamson Dynamics GP would be winding down their SuperLeague program, Team Principal Ben Williamson made an additional official announcement today to the assembled press.

"First of all, I would like to sincerely thank everybody who has been involved in the team's Superleague efforts in the last two seasons. Adam Smith has done an utterly superb job, going above and beyond what could be reasonably expected of him. I'd also like to extend special thanks to Ojay Clark for some superb drives this season."

"Naturally, it is very regrettable that the team has to withdraw from the GPVWC SuperLeague in the 2012 season. It's a wonderful competition made up of many fantastic people and I remain confident that the series will go from strength to strength." Williamson stated.

"Unfortunately, we have just not been able to rebuild the team at it's core and this is in no small part down to our poor showing in 2010 and my lack of availability for the project. It remains my hope that in the future Williamson Dynamics can return to the Superleague, but it would have been fundamentally unfair to attempt entry for 2012 without the underlying structure the team needs and potentially deprive a solid and competetive team a slot on the grid."

"At the start of 2012 I will have the time and opportunity to begin a rank and file rebuild of the team from the ground up, a process I expect to take significant time. I can confirm that our Lancaster Technical Centre will remain open as will our Stockholm facility and our group HQ in Berlin and the team shall be making no redundancies. Formula One requires extensive technical capability and we wish to retain this for the future of the team. Whilst the rumour that we will be closing down our Pacific team is true, the staff working on this team will be reallocated to other projects."

"As a competetive entity, the team will begin a new program in lower level competitions. I can confirm that we are currently evaluating a Touring Car Program and an Endurance Program. Additionally, our relationship with Formula One will not entirely cease and Williamson Dynamics will continue to make itself available as both an Engine/Gearbox and Aero Package provider. Our windtunnel facilities will be open for hire and our involvement in the sport will remain in the very highest levels."

Williamson finished up the press conference by confirming that the Williamson Dynamics Group would be looking into title sponsorship opportunities on the grid which would presumably include technical support as well as sponsorship of at least one GPVWC Event, stating that he felt it important to retain brand awareness in the series.
