In the early hours of Tuesday morning on the 27th or March 2012, Lee Morris stated his ambition to be the 2012 World Champion.

Many would think that, after finishing 2nd and 3rd in the first two outings of the 2012 campaign, Morris would have a genuine chance of achieving this goal in 2012 but if we look closer at the season so far the results spell out a different fact.

The Midnight Motorsports team, in the capable hands of Lukas Euler and Nick Rowland, have genuinly outpaced the Draig Racing outfit by a huge margin and therefore have established themselves as the benchmark in the early part of the season.

Undaunted by his rivals' success, Morris announced this morning that he is confident Draig Racing can close the gap and challenge Midnight by at least Round Six.He also went on to make a bold comment that in 2012 he will be the World Champion.

Morris's is a very brave comment, as most readers will agree, and it will be interesting to see if Midnight choose to respond to these mind games or just continue to do the talking on track - which has worked convincingly so far in 2012.

Morris's statement in full:

"Despite finishing over one minute behind the leader in both races so far, I am confident in the team's ability to turn things around. We saw last year how the season can soon quickly change and despite winning the first five races in 2011 our team quickly fell behind and eventualy we lost our grip on the Championship."

"I firmly believe this year we can be the ones to be strongest at the end of the season, and I can assure the whole paddock one thing, I will win the World Championship in 2012"
