Deep in the South Wales Valleys the workforce behind the scenes at Red 5 Racing have been working hard. Whilst their peers have been enjoying somewhat of a "purple" period in results, the Welsh team has yet to score points in 2012.

Team Manager Gavin Thomas had this to say: "Red 5 Racing is a family, as we've always stated; I'm extremely excited to see what we can do in the next race, as our own "Band of Brothers" has been working overtime to get the new upgrades ready for Abu Dhabi. I have no doubts whatsoever that we will leave our mark on the championship this year, it's just a matter of time!"

Thomas has reason to be in buoyant mood, the bullish Welshman brought home the Red 5 for the first time in Shanghai, albeit in 15th place, with Reserve Driver William Tringas bringing the sister car home in 18th.

"I've been pushing the boys back in the factory!" said Thomas. "They have done fantastically well, to my reckoning only the Midnight team is ahead of us in terms of overall upgrades. Can this push us up the grid? There would have to be a really good reason for it not to mean that, our history of creating the right developments at the right stage is proven, in 2011 people were shocked at how much we improved, which led to us being voted "Most Improved Team" that year. Now we aim to shock the GPVWC world again. And with myself and Ben Morgan becoming more comfortable with the car every race, I see us making the top 10......maybe even more!"

As we spoke the two Men of Harlech cars were being put onto the Transporters, destination Abu Dhabi. One thing is for certain, Red 5 are taking this 2012 Superleague season seriously, time will tell if the R&D decisions Thomas has taken plan out!
