With Draig Racing's Lee Morris expressing his satisfaction with Draig's form so far this season and promising great things for the remainder of the 2012 Superleague championship, one could be forgiven for expecting Midnight Motorsport to be a little concerned ahead of Thursday's Spanish GP.

However, Midnight Motorsport's Dave Carr-Smith was quick toalleviateany concerns with a brief statement from the British squad.

"We said this from day one; in our post-race piece for the Australian GP we clearly stated that our advantage would not last forever. This is proving to be the case with our rivals, as expected, bringing the vast majority of their performance upgrades to the start of the European season.

It would be foolish of us to think that this was going to be easy. Draig, Red Archer, Nordsjoen and even teams such as Kernow and Synergetic have a great wealth of talent and experience throughout their ranks. We are fortunate in that we managed to build a small cushion both in terms of the car development and points standings throughout the opening fly-away stages of the season.

It is unfortunate that the last two events have seen unfortunate complications during the race for our drivers, but this is to be expected at some point of the season. I would rather see our drivers experience these issues now, when we have the capability to bounce back courtesy of our car's performance, than later in the season when we are in direct competition with our rivals on the track.

No, we haven't maximised our potential in these opening four races, but equally, neither have our rivals - aside from perhaps Mr Morris who has, as ever, put that car in positions it is not yet worthy. We have done what we can with the circumstances presented to us however; evidence of this can be seen from the Constructors' Championship where we have a 47 point advantage over our closest rivals in the form of Nordsjoen.

For Spain, I sincerely hope that we can put recent issues behind us and see a nice quiet race for both drivers, although I understand that there is currently an on-going investigation involving Nick that may see us take a small drop on the grid, but this is not of significant concern, it's a long race. For sure it will be tighter than previous events in terms of the gap between us and our rivals, but I am confident that we can get the job done by the time the chequered flag falls tomorrow evening."
