With the shocking news still reverberating throughout the GPVWC regarding the sudden retirement of reigning Superleague champion Joe Consiglio with immediate effect, the decision will no doubt have lingering effects on the outcome on some driver's current situations.

One of those drivers who may, or may not see their role change, or even take a new career path is Ben Warren, who has been the Nordsjoen Racing reserve driver, backing up Consiglio and the team's sole remaining full-time driver Pavel Loknovski.

With the double World Champion's seat now vacant, rumours are flying around linking a number of drivers to be Consiglio's temporary, or permanent replacement. These rumours include Warren, with many expecting him to fill Consiglio's seat, albeit temporarily before a permanent replacement is found. Warren was quick to address the rumours though, stating nothing has been decided on. "The team has a really difficult decision to make, and despite the Monaco race just a few days away, it would be wrong for the team to rush into signing the first driver that falls into their lap."

When asked about his chance of filling the seat temporarily, or even permanently, Warren said "I'm in a really great position right now to even be a test driver for a team as successful as this. I've already learnt a lot in this short time I've been with the team. Whether I'm asked to race or not, I'm happy, I'm in a good position."

Warren's fledgling Superleague career has seen him make just 9 starts on the grid for ST Racing and Nijo Racing since 2010, making the Supercup championship his main focus, as well as taking on Superleague test duties throughout that time. Warren is currently signed to Innervision in the Supercup, but for the Monaco Grand Prix will hand racing duties over to reserve driver Mike Seymour, to focus on his Superleague duties, whatever they may be.

Warren was also asked about the currently vacant seat for another Superleague team, Synergetic Motorsport. "I've had no contact whatsoever with the Synergetic management. I'm sure they've got their own decisions to make and their own plan of action, so right now I'm just focusing on my testing duties for Nordsjoen."

Whether Warren is ready to make the big step up to drive in Superleague full-time remains to be seen, as well as whether it will happen. But no doubt at least in the future, Warren definitely has eyes on finding a seat.
