On Wednesday morning Hawkeye Racing drive Lewis Redshaw admitted that he had not been able to push 100% in the races so far as he is still struggling to make the tires last.

"At the moment I am probably pushing about 75-80% in the races until the final stint where I just go for it regardless of tire wear, I still haven't been able to push 100% each lap which is what brought me so close to a championship in the WCS F1 series".

Redshaw finished 2nd in the WCS F1 series in 2011 just two points behind the winner having won 6 of the 10 races. "In those races the tires were no issue so I could just push as hard as I could all the time, however, with the current tires and my driving style I can't even make the primes last as long as my teamate can with the options." Bart De Vos only did two stops in Barcelona whereas Redshaw did 3. Bart finished one place above Lewis at the end of the race despite starting 7 places below Redshaw."Bart just makes the tires last in the races, he also has great pace whilst saving the tires. Whereas I have to slow and still can't make the tires last as long as him.

Redshaw admits though that things are slowly getting there. "In Barcelona myself and Kieran Ryan had a little incident where my suspension got damaged so badly that I had to pit that lap, this was 3 laps before I wanted to come in. This meant my second stint was about 22 laps, way more than I was able to do inpractice, so I was proud of myself for that.Vinodh Moodley is now doing an outstanding job of getting our setups right and helping me make the tires last longer."

Hopefully we will see Redshaw higher up at the end of the race now he is starting to understand the tires more.
