Green Stripes Racing today confirmed that the season ending Singapore GP would be the final appearance for their now lead driver Dave Carr-Smith at the wheel of GSR machinery.

The team, now sitting second in the Constructors' Championship standings in just their first season of competition at this level, has amassed a wealth of success on track with five wins, ten podiums and two pole positions across the seventeen races so far this season, a great turnaround for the team given that they hadn't managed to score a point until the fourth round of the season, in Hungary.

Team Owner Christoph Lichtenstein gave a brief statement.

"Thank you all for attending this press conference, its reasoning is unfortunately sad in nature as I can announce that Dave (Carr-Smith) will be leaving our team at the end of the season. Naturally we attempted to negotiate a deal to see him behind the wheel of our car once more in 2013 but it became clear that such a deal was not within reach and so we have had to agree to a parting of the ways.

"Of course we offer Dave the best of luck and success for the 2013 season, the whole team is grateful for what he has done for us throughout this current season; I for one did not expect to end the season with second position in the Constructors' Championship with seven victories to our name in our very first season."

Whilst Lichtenstein did not announce who would replace Carr-Smith at the team for the 2013 season, we understand that the team has a number of options and will announce their decision when a deal is signed.

Dave Carr-Smith went on to offer his own thoughts on the announcement.

"Whilst I cannot speak more about my own future at this moment, I can confirm that there is a deal in place for me to continue competing in the Superleague for the 2013 season. At this time however, I would like to thank Christoph [Lichtenstein] and the team for this great season. We have enjoyed a run of success second only to the Championship-winning outfit, which, when I signed for the team as a reserve driver back in January, is certainly not where we were expecting to end up when the curtain fell on the season. The team has worked incredibly well together and I am confident that they will have no problem attracting a great driver to fill this vacancy so that they can continue to achieve these results in 2013, they deserve it.

"Let us not forget that we still have one race remaining; I think that for both the team and I, the goal is clear. We want to end both this season and our partnership on a high, and adding another win to the tally is certainly the best way to go about that after the disappointment of Suzuka. In closing, my thanks once again to the whole team for this season, it's been a lot of fun and I wish Green Stripes Racing the best of luck for the 2013 season."
