In what will be a new feature for Midnight Motorsport in 2013, writing for a team publication, Lukas Euler, Alex Cooper and Jamez Shepherd share their thoughts following a day of productive running at the first test session of the season, hosted in Valencia.

No.1 - LUKAS EULER, GER

"I honestly couldn't wait for this season to start. Some things have changed compared to last year, my teammate is now Alex Cooper, and Jamez Shepherd is back in the team. Although this might sound like a lot changed, the team itself is still very close together and the working mentality and atmosphere is just as good as it was all previous season long. Of course our aims for 2013 cannot be less than repeating what we achieved in 2012, maybe perform even better. I personally had some bad races last season, and I think I need to be even more consistent and competitive this year, to achieve that. But I like to be challenged and 2013 will most certainly be a great challenge for all of us.

Today has finally arrived, the official start of our 2013 campaign. I was highly anticipating the first official outing with our new car, already set up with the latest updates, that just arrived late this night. Our team did a fantastic job, working all night, so we were able to test the latest version of our car. Today's primary aim was to learn more about the tires, especially the primes, of course including all the other checks you have got to do, when testing your new companion for the first time.

The test went very well, we got through out programme fast and without any issues. Our test driver Jamez suffered a small electrical problem on lap thirty-four this morning, but these things happen and it is no reason to start worrying as it was fixed very quickly and he was able to finish the rest of his desired programme without any further issues. My team mate for this year, Alex, has his run planned for later today and I am eager to see what he thinks of our MM-03. I'm positive he will get through his programme as well as I did and we can then begin to focus on further improvements.

Nevertheless the car felt great already, which is a good start and is promising for the rest of the pre-season tests, as well as the Superleague season!"

No.2 - ALEX COOPER, GBR

"It's hard to believe that the season has already started.

2013 brings the start of a new adventure for me, I'm starting my debut season in the Superleague alongside Lukas and Jamez. Nothing has changed within the team however, we're still the same group of people who worked so well together last season and the atmosphere feels very much the same; if anything I think we're even better prepared this year.

Today was my first official drive of the MM-03, and as with every new car, it was all about learning. My initial impressions were that the car was very well balanced and smooth out of the corners. Running on the prime tyre, we gathered some valuable data which should help in the upcoming tests.

Lukas and Jamez were in the car this morning and suffered no major issues, an electrical issue stopped Jamez' car on lap thirty-four of his run, but it was fixed swiftly. I jumped in the car this afternoon and had the benefit of some clear air to test in; there were no unexpected issues and I completed my run without complication, the car appears to be very reliable which is always a good sign early on.

I can't wait to drive the car again, hopefully it's going to be another great year."

No.30 - JAMEZ SHEPHERD, AUS

"The off-season has passed so quickly, and it's great to be back behind the wheel of a Midnight Motorsport Superleague car. The MM-03 is an amazing piece of machinery, and such a difference beast to the 2012 car. I first got the call up from Nick about the possibility to rejoin the team in early November. We all met up for Lukas' birthday and ran through a few checks before settling in for a few runs, and then discussing the battles we had shared over the season. After a great day with some of the best guys in the business it was clear that my brief stay with Hawkeye had me homesick. Until you've experienced a team that operates as Midnight do, it's hard to explain what you're missing out on.

The first test session of the year didn't go as planned, but we still managed to complete our programme. We concentrated a lot on the tyres for this session, and the aim was to complete our forty laps on the one set. Unfortunately we suffered an electrical fault thirty-four laps in and had to bring the car in. We lost all the data from the run, but the car still felt good and the tyres were reacting exactly as we had planned, so it wasn't totally wasted. Thankfully Lukas was able to complete his programme error free, and we'll have Alex on track this afternoon to compare noteswith."
