Nearly a third of the new season down and all the plaudits are talking about Carr-smith, Euler, Midnight and Nordsjoen. Today though we review the teams new to the league this season and how they are finding the toughest league.
Phoenix F1

After a high profile return for Andy Graydon and his outfit it got a lot of people talking about getting back to the heights it was used to. Signing Ryan again too also brought more hope but developing the car was slow and the team struggled for pace.

The experienced driver line up always gives Phoenix a chance however.

In the opening round after seven retirements both cars came home just outside the points in 17th &18th. In Sepang the same story both finishing but in 20th & 21st. Austria was the teams first DNF for Bryson and Ryan bring the car home in 17th. Hungary saw ten cars not finish including Bryson but Ryan managed to once again finish and come home for a point in 15th. Bryson made it an unfortunate trio of DNFs in Spain whilst Ryan officially came 19th.

One point from a third of the season is not a return Phoenix is used to. Kieran Ryan can be proud of his drives so far though, one point to his name doesn't do justice to the drives. The team must be hopeful that the in season test can bring the car on to let them challenge for more points.

Standings: 1point

Halcyon Racing Team

Adam Rouse brought his team up from Supercup and with the experience between himself and Philip Cullen set the team up for a good debut season. The car was developed faster than at phoenix but still left the team with one of the slowest cars on the grid.

Australia looked like it was starting badly with Cullen out on lap three. However Rouse brought his car home in 11th for five points. Sepang & Austria was much the same stories with Cullen not finishing and Rouse bringing home points in 13th & 15th. This brought the teams total to nine points.

Before the Hungarian race Cullen was replaced by James Shepherd, an expensive acquisition but one that could bring results to the team. He showed his pace by coming home in 9th the teams best result of the season unfortunately Rouse had his first DNF of the campaign.

The Spanish GP was yet another driver change with Davakos coming in for Shepherd unfortunately it was a double DNF for the team. Adam will hope the in season test can move the car forward and that Shepherd returns to keep the team competitive.

Standings: 16 points

Torrent Motorsports

Torrent came into Superleague with high expectations after a great Supercup season. Although the car was new the team and drivers were always destined for the top league. By signing Peter Kassa & Jim Parisis the team has two drivers who know how to win if the car if good enough.

Melbourne showed the team has the skill to have a great debut season coming home fifth & sixth. They only had to wait until Sepang for their first podium finish in the form of Parisis followed up with Kassa in fifth.

The next two races in Austria & Hungary brought two more double top ten finishes for the team. Spain equaled the team's best result to date with another podium this time for Kassa and Parisis in 5th.

These results are far in away above the other two new teams with the drivers currently in fourth & fifth in the standings and the team fourth.

The team is already beating more established teams and when the car develops to be up there with the top cars the team has the drivers to challenge for wins.

Standings: 89 points

Next up is Monaco and the uncertainty that always comes with it, will this be a time for the new teams to spring some surprises?..
