Walk Racing report on their efforts at Silverstone.

UK's Silverstone track hosted Round 8 of the 2015 GPVWC Supercup championship, halfway point into the season and didn't know what is going to be, more badluck or puting our mark even more on both championships.

Recent form of Risto Kappet in SuperCup show's that he is getting allong better and better with the cars and mod and was looking for another strong result to afirm that.

Qualifying Result
1st Risto Kappet
2nd Ruud Heesterbeek

Missing pole by just 0.004 Heesterbeek said "Qualifying was very close. In the end the difference between me and Risto was only 4 milliseconds. A front row lockout for the team was a very nice result"

Risto after securing another pole-position said after qualifying " Didnt quite get a PB and all my splits together but got a great lap and got pole a few thousants ahead of Ruud, a great result to get my 2nd pole, very happy".

Round 8 - Silverstone (10)

Race 1 Result
3ed Risto Kappet
11th Ruud Heesterbeek

Risto after another great podium said "Locking the front row, getting away with a good start was key which we did with Ruud. I did a few mistakes in the opening laps and didnt fight Ruud when he was faster. Then most of the first stint i was right behind him, as everyone else were far behind i really fought for the win and was very close many times, but evenetually i wore my left front tyre very badly from driving in the dirty air all race and lost some pace and also had to pit few laps earlier than everyone else. This mean that after the stops i fell to 4th and back to 3rd after Ruuds unfortunate error. I was fighting Emanuel for some time but he had a bit less wing so it was very hard to overtake, eventually I made an error and lost some ground, almost caught back by the end of ther ace but finished 3rd, in short distance of guys ahead".

Round 8 - Silverstone (4)

11th place for Ruud and he was a little upset saying "We had a good start in race 1 and immediately me and Risto had a small gap to the next cars. I saw he made a couple of small mistakes and I could make a safe pass on him at turn 6 in the opening laps. He tried to overtake me back in the later part of the stint, which cost a bit of time but I knew I wasn?t going to be overtaken in the pit stop phase. After I had made my stop I was in the lead with a gap of over two seconds, and I thought I had the race under control. Unfortunately I made a very stupid mistake in the last corner. I touched the kerb on the inside only by an inch, but it was enough to lift the rear tyres off the ground and I crashed into the wall, losing my front wing. After driving a whole lap without a front wing and pitting to repair the damage, I was pretty much in last place. I was on option tyres now while the rest of the field was on primes, so I could fight my way back to 11th place."

Round 8 - Silverstone (8)

Race 2 Result
2nd Risto Kappet
4th Ruud Heesterbeek

With another wonderfull recovery and strong points Ruud said "In race 2 I started from P11, but I had a good start and immediately gained some places in the opening laps. I could quite easily pass the guys in front of me and after half a race I was up to P4. The next car ahead was my championship rival Sven de Vries and he wasn?t going to make it easy for me to pass him. We had a great hard-fought battle until the end of the race, where we were side-by-side for several corners. It was an intense battle, but we made sure to give each other room when we were side-by-side, so it was a very fair fight as well. In the end Sven finished ahead of me, so I took 4th"

Very close to a win in the second race Risto said "Reduced wing a bit for better racing and it was very effective. Started on primes, quite quickly disgarded everyone but Melm ahead of me and was cruising in P2, at first pushing to get away from Sven and later, saved my tyres and fuel as Sven and Ruud battled behind me. I was sure that Melm will pit so i was not pushing, but few laps from the end i realized and upped the pace. I caught him by the last corner, had I braked like i did every lap, i would have overtook him and won, but i overshot by alot and finished 2nd, so close to a victory is very sour and also i lost points to Sven, who im aiming for in the standings but again best result of the season and great points for the team so cant be sad at all. Plus enjoyed some great racing and level as usual. Looking forward to keeping the pace but eliminating errors to start winning sooner better than later.I must say I am extremely disappointed with the result this race. I had amazing pace and should?ve won the first race, but I messed up. Fortunately I still lead the championship by a safe margin and I?ll be looking to extend the gap again in the next races. Austria is next, which is usually one of my worst tracks, but I will work hard and try to go for the win again".

Championship Standings
1st Ruud Heesterbeek 254pts
5th Risto Kappet 169pts

With Walk Racing leading the championship with an impressive 423 points!

Team boss Mr C said "We extended our lead in team standings and i am very happy with that at half point of the season, but as we show how strong we are more and more my expectations get higher to so by the end of the season i want a double 1,2 in an event, but joking aside , i couldn't be more happy about how things are going at the moment, yes Ruud had some small problems in the last two rounds but i am sure he will pick it up and to his best as always "
